Diagnosing POST problems

Diagnosing POST problems

You may run into situational questions on the Core Hardware exam that require you to know which
FRM (field replaceable module) is involved given a certain set of symptoms. Here are a few symptoms that indicate a power supply problem:

l The power light on the front panel is off.
l The power supply fan isn't operating.
l The computer sounds either a continuous beep or doesn't beep at all.
l The computer sounds a repeating short beep.
l The computer displays either a POST error in the 020–029 series (Power Good signal error) or a
   parity error.
